Resident Advisor
Mr. Jason Vandenberg deployed to Bucharest, Romania in September 2021 to support the Romanian Ministry of National Defense General Human Resources Directorate in its effort to retire communist legacy practices and develop and implement modern human resource management systems to support a robust all-volunteer force, including force structure, professional development and recruiting strategies.
Prior to entering the MoDA program, Mr. Vandenberg served as the Chief of the Air Force Airman and Family Care Division. He was responsible for providing policy, resources and legislative accountability for a portfolio including Wounded Warrior, mortuary and casualty affairs, transition assistance, financial readiness, employment, protocol, voting assistance, and family member programs. Additionally, he was responsible for the Deployment Transition Center at Ramstein Air Base providing resiliency skills to Airmen returning home from combat tours.
He was previously assigned to the State Department Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations, where he served as a stabilization advisor for the Lake Sahel Region. He worked with the Independent Observer to the Algiers Accord, advancing peace process implementation in Mali and leading an international working group coordinating stabilization assistance with partner nations.
He earned a Master’s Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, and holds a Master of Public Administration, and a B.S. in Natural Resource Management and Anthropology from the University of Vermont. He is an alumnus of the Department of Defense Executive Leadership and Senior Leader Development Programs.
