DSCA & DSCU DELEGATION MEETS THE CHIEF OF DEFENSE OF THE GAMBIA
Posted: Jan 4, 2024
On December 13-14, a delegation comprising DSCA Deputy Director Mr. Michael Miller, DSCA Chief of Staff Mr. Steven Derscheid, DSCU President Dr. Celeste Gventer, and DSCU Vice President Dr. Jason Fritz met with the leaders and staff of DSCA outstations, the Institute for Security Governance, and the Defenses Resource Management Institute on Naval Support Activity Monterey.
During their visit, the DSCA & DSCU delegation had the opportunity to meet Major General Mamat OA Cham, the Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces, who was at ISG to participate in the two-week Executive Program in Defense Decision-Making resident course. The meeting not only allowed the DSCA Deputy Director and ISG Director to forge an important in-person relationship with a high-ranking partner, but also provided an opportunity for that partner to share poignant (and positive!) feedback on his experience at ISG and in the resident course.
This course is aimed at senior civilian and military officials throughout the international defense, intelligence, and law enforcement communities who are empowered to make strategic decisions daily in defense of their nations. It often attracts very senior participants due to the high-caliber faculty and content, meant to impart key knowledge and skills to further enable these senior leaders to be effective decision-makers, become agents of change, and transform their institutions to address ever-evolving national security challenges.
