SC-102 Foundations of Security Cooperation
SC-102 is a foundational-level course introducing U.S. security cooperation (SC) and its role in advancing national security objectives through military diplomacy. As a core course in the Support Enablers pathway, it is designed for security cooperation professionals seeking a fundamental understanding of the frameworks governing SC activities. The course explores key components such as the 3D approach (Development, Diplomacy, and Defense), security sector assistance, and institutional capacity building (ICB). By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify key components of SC, recognize the roles of key U.S. Government (USG) stakeholders in shaping SC programs and policies, and understand how SC serves as a force multiplier through a policy-informed approach.
The self-paced OLT (online training) course consists of 1 hour of instruction delivered through MyDSCU in Cornerstone on Demand (CSOD). To successfully complete the course, participants must pass a final assessment that evaluates their awareness of the principles that support security cooperation activities and programs. The assessment includes multiple-choice and true or false questions. Students must achieve 80% or better to receive their certificate of completion.
Upon course completion, participants will receive an email from CSOD with links to the course evaluation and certificate of completion. Feedback collected will be used to enhance future iterations of the course.
