SCO-103 Foundations of Security Cooperation Organization (SCO)

Foundations of Security Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a foundational-level course under Security Cooperation Certification 2.0, designed for Security Cooperation Workforce members not serving within SCOs. This course provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of SCOs and their critical function within the broader U.S. Security Cooperation framework. Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of Security Cooperation (SC) and SCO operations, including legislative mandates, essential U.S. government and partner nation relationships, and the complex operational environments they navigate.

The course equips Security Cooperation Workforce members with the knowledge needed to effectively engage with SCOs, set appropriate expectations, and dispel misconceptions, ultimately enhancing the success of Security Cooperation initiatives. It also covers key concepts related to foreign military sales, international training programs, and security cooperation planning, emphasizing the SCO’s role in these areas. Learners will explore the internal workings of SCO offices, and the skills needed for effective engagement in diverse cultural and regional contexts.
