Principal for Peace and Security Practice & Capability

Eva Lanot is the Principal for Peace & Security within the Practice and Capability Division at the Institute of Security Governance (ISG). In this role, Eva leads functionally organized faculty teams focused on Maritime Security, Peacekeeping, Conflict, and Terrorism, and Security Governance and Civil-Military Relations. Eva’s expertise focusses on the intersection of non-state actors, violent conflict, and emerging threats that challenge human security.  

Since joining ISG in 2017, Eva has led faculty teams in the Conflict, Terrorism, and Protection functional area, focusing on irregular migration, forced displacement, civilian protection, and civil-military responses to terrorism.  

Prior to joining ISG, Eva served for a decade as a humanitarian and program professional for the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, and as a contractor to ISG’s predecessor, the Center for Civil-Military Relations.  

Throughout Eva’s career, she has developed expertise in instructional design, competency-based training, andragogy, protection of acutely vulnerable populations, and facilitative leadership in global health and international relief and recovery operations.  

Eva holds a Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey (MIIS), with a specialization in Human and Environmental Security, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Oregon.
