Ms. Ashley Woodson serves as the Climate Security Lead and Faculty Associate in the Emergency Management & Resilience (EM&R) functional area within the Practice & Capability Division of the Institute for Security Governance (ISG).
Ms. Woodson directs Climate Security curriculum development and facilitates bilateral and multilateral education engagements with allies and partner nations within that domain. Ms. Woodson is building ISG’s Climate Security portfolio with a focus on conducting international short courses for partner countries’ military and civilian counterparts. Ms. Woodson is also a key contributor to ISG’s international disaster preparedness and response engagements. Her efforts have convened various communities of practice, including international organizations, non-governmental, and government stakeholders for courses and training exercises intended to share best practices and institutional knowledge.
Prior to ISG, Ms. Woodson served as the Associate Operations Manager for the Joint Foreign Area Officer (FAO) Program at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
Ms. Woodson holds a Master of Arts in Security Studies with a focus on Stabilization and Reconstruction from NPS, a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the California State University of Monterey Bay, and a Certificate in Urban Sustainable Agriculture from the University of the District of Columbia.
Ms. Woodson is a fellow in the Center for Climate and Security’s Climate Security Fellowship (September 2023 – June 2024).
