Ms. Janie Maddox joined the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) as the Contracting Lead and Lecturer in April of 2014. She is involved directly in acquiring and managing several knowledge-type advisory service vehicles for subject matter experts (SME) that specialize in civil-military topics and the professional program staff that support the SMEs.
Ms. Maddox holds 30 years of experience in government contract management and related educational fields as both a private and public civilian, and US Air Force (USAF) military officer. She has significant experience in all phases of federal contracting. She also served as contracting officer with an unlimited warrant and held a Top-Secret Clearance as a contractor for the National Reconnaissance Office. She is a published author, researcher, contract-pricing expert, and specialized contract developer for Defense Acquisition University/American Council on Education (DAU/ACE) equivalency products. She has developed and conducted contract management seminars, training, workshops, and distance learning classes for Federal Prime Contractors, Universities, National Contract Management Association's (NCMA), DOD, and several Federal Civilian Agencies. She served as Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Quantitative Management Department at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) where she led DOD/AFIT’s development of the current contract pricing reference guides, referenced in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as guidance for contract pricing.
In her role as contracting advisor to the Director of ISG, Ms. Maddox leads development of acquisition strategies for contracting efforts, writes and edits performance work statements, interprets contracting regulations, assists program managers in task order award and post-award processes, and communicates regularly with Contracting Office at Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) and Fleet Logistics Center, San Diego, on contracting issues.
Ms. Maddox holds a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration and Secondary Education from Texas State University. She is the recipient of the prestigious NCMA Blanche Witte Award for Exemplary Contributions to the Contract Management Profession and former recipient of USAF contracting officer of the year award. Ms. Maddox lives in Monterey, California.
