Ms. Janie Maddox is a Lecturer and the Contract Management Lead for the Institute for Security Governance (ISG). She is involved directly in acquiring and managing several knowledge-type advisory service vehicles for subject matter experts (SMEs) that specialize in civil-military topics and is also involved in the vehicle that sources professional program staff that provide administrative support to ISG. She holds a secret clearance and is a lifetime certified professional contract manager (CPCM). She also holds a DAWIA Level III Certification in Contracting. In addition to her contract management role, she lectures in ISG's Women's Integration into the Armed Forces course and is a professor within the Graduate School of Defense Management at the US Naval Postgraduate School, specializing in contract management research and curriculum development.
Ms. Maddox has 25 years of experience in government contract management and related educational fields as both a civilian and as a US Air Force (USAF) military officer. She has significant experience in all phases of federal contracting. She also served as contracting officer with an unlimited warrant and held a Top Secret Clearance as a contractor for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). She has developed and conducted contract management seminars, training, workshops and distance learning classes for Federal Prime Contractors, Universities, the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), US Department of Defense (DoD), and several federal civilian agencies. She served as Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Quantitative Management Department at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) where she led the development of AFIT/DoD contract pricing reference guides referenced in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as guidance for contract pricing.
Ms. Maddox holds a BBA from Texas State University and a MBA from Golden Gate University. She is an active member of the NCMA. Her awards include the prestigious Blanche Witte Award for Exemplary Contributions to the Contract Management Profession and the USAF contracting officer of the year award. She is a published author of both articles, books, and course materials in government contracting and contract pricing. She has also published several research papers on the topic of "Price Analysis on Commercial Items Purchases Within the Department of Defense". As a speaker she has been engaged in events such as the Acquisition Research Symposium, NCMA's World Congress, and as a Keynote speaker at the Government Contract Pricing Summit.
