Regional Advising
Ms. Jennifer Grigsby joined the Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) in 2011. Since the transition from CCMR to the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) in 2019, she has served as a Learning and Information Management Specialist. Ms. Grigsby currently works to design, develop, and deploy learning modules for ISG. In addition to course design, she is responsible for the implementation and support of online collaboration and resource systems used across the institute.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Grigsby was an Instructional Design Specialist, assigned to the Leader Development and Education for Sustained Peace (LDESP) program. In that role, she supported the design and development of distance learning modules relating to regional and cultural education delivered to military and civilian leaders prior to deployment. Her contribution to these programs also included open-source research, analysis, and product development in the form of geopolitical updates and regional awareness compilations delivered through controlled distribution. Ms. Grigsby also implemented reach-back capabilities for participants in all phases of the program, while managing the coordination of a sponsored graduate course offered through the US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
Before joining ISG, Ms. Grigsby served more than a decade as an emergency service practitioner, supervisor, and agency director. In her role as a public servant, her work focused on improving emergency response and security through the complex process of government, stakeholder, and community cooperation. During her previous career, she developed local protocols and programs to raise awareness, improve communication methods, and ensure agencies were adhering to the National Strategy. After leaving the Emergency Management sector as a practitioner, Ms. Grigsby worked for Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) as the lead research analyst for the Public Safety and Security Institute for Technology (PSITECH). The PSITEC program was a Homeland Security initiative aimed at providing research, analysis, and quality control of information relating to all aspects of the emergency response disciplines.
Ms. Grigsby holds degrees in Emergency Management and Criminal Justice. She has been active in her local community as a domestic violence advocate and animal shelter volunteer. In her spare time, she studies genealogy and has published two books related to the subject.
