The IDARM program recently delivered a course entitled “Principles of Defense Procurement and Contracting,” from 30 October to 10 November 2017.

IDARM hosted "Principles of Defense Acquisition Management," (P159200) at CCMR Headquarters in October.

With violence increasing around the globe, protecting civilians has become the cornerstone of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mandates. In support of that mission, CCMR’s Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) program delivers a course entitled “UN Protection of Civilians – Train the Trainer.”

CCMR and the Prevention, Relief, and Recovery (PR&R) team are busy reviewing a 2-week in-residence course offering entitled "Defense Governance," (P170024), which supports new requirements in NDAA Section 333.

Dr. Cristiana Matei, program manager of both the LATAM program and Intelligence and Democracy program at CCMR, attended the International Studies Association Annual Convention in Baltimore, Maryland from 22-25 February 2017.

CCMR faculty and staff have collaborated to publish a new book focusing on the role of security forces in African countries. The volume, entitled “Security Forces in African States: Cases and Assessment,” is edited by former CTFP director/CCMR instructor Paul Shemella along with Nicholas Tomb, current director of the AFRICA Program.

From 28 February – 02 March 2017, CAPT Tim Doorey and Dr. Peter Chalk of CCMR’s Maritime Security Program supported a joint Naval War College, Naval Postgraduate School, and Indonesian Ministry of Defense seminar in Jakarta, Indonesia entitled “Maritime Defense in the Littoral Environment.”

From 22-28 January 2017, CCMR hosted a 16-person delegation from Mali at its headquarters in Monterey, California. Organized by the AFRICA program at CCMR, the event was designed to engage with the Republic of Mali on the subject of national security planning.

From 23-26 February, the Security Cooperation Studies and Exercises Program team from the NPS Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) traveled to Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska to provide specialized expertise and exercise management to the Arctic Eagle 2017 command post exercise

Scott Jasper, the International Defense Transformation (IDT) Program Manager, spoke about Countering ISIS: An Adaptive Hybrid Threat at an International Conference in Sofia, Bulgaria in late September.
